From 1 January 2025, heavy-duty vehicles will be required to display new pictorial length signage on road trains, which aim to enhance road safety by providing a clearer visual of the length of the vehicle in front of them, before attempting to overtake. The signs show the number of trailers and the total length of the vehicle, depicted with an equivalent number of car lengths. The new signage is to be displayed on the rear of restricted access vehicles, including road trains and other heavy vehicles.
The new signage will replace the existing ‘ROAD TRAIN’ or ‘LONG VEHICLE’ signs, which currently cover vehicle combinations ranging from 22 to 60 metres in length.
Main Roads WA Signage Requirements: PBS Vehicle Signage

MAXUS safety signs comply to AS1906.1 Class 100 standards. All WA operators will be required to display the new signage from 1 January 2025 as directed by Main Roads WA.
